Using Technology to Serve Communities in a Crisis

A year ago an earthquake rocked Haiti. This report, from the Knight Foundation, shows how technology, both new and old, allowed media outlets to connect earthquake victims with information about emergency aid, clean water and other vital resources. Thanks to crowdsourcing, mobile phone texting and open source maps, humanitarian agencies could more effectively respond to earthquake victims.
